My name is Alec and I have been doing landscaping and home renovations for the last 10 years. This is my passion. I love to fix things that are broken, update living spaces and create comfortable homes for not only myself and my family, but everyone else!
This all started when I moved into a home that was in pretty rough shape. I was constantly dealing with broken or damaged parts of the house, a yard that was trashed and basically a mud pit. I wanted something to call home, something that made me feel happy when I got home from work, so I decided to start fixing it up. It took some learning and research to find out how to do things properly and safely. I purchased hundreds of dollars worth of tools, books and materials to familiarise myself with the home renovation skills needed to perform many different tasks, including but not limited to plumbing, drywall, painting, tiling, flooring and electrical.
From there I decided to do something with my back and front yard. I could not stand dealing with the constant mud pit, not being able to have friends and family over or go outside to enjoy a coffee and a smoke. I dug everything up, planted flowers, built a deck and shed. It was great any my landlord was very pleased! But most importantly I was happy with my work and realized that I LOVED doing this kind of work.
After a few years of doing odd jobs after my full time job, I moved into a townhouse complex. Once again, the yard was horrible, the unit needed work done and I begged the supers and landlord to let me do the work myself to my standard and the way I wanted to make it for myself and my family to feel at home. They agreed and I started right away. Once completed, the landlord came threw to view the work done and instantly offered me a job, paying more than what I was at my full time job to work for him doing renovations and landscaping. My dream was now a reality and I could not be happier.
After a year and 2 children later I decided a move was in our best option as we just needed something more than the townhouse could offer us. Sadly I had to stop doing the renovations for the complex and started another full time job. So now I do this all on the side, including my full time job.
Thanks for listening to me babble on!
